Rubén is among a select group of professionals in Mexico holding dual certifications: one from the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants (IMCP) for “Vulnerable Activities” (Anti-Money Laundering Law) and another from the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV) for the financial sector.
Since 2015, he has dedicated himself to the study, advisory, and compliance of AML laws across various sectors, including automotive, real estate development, brokerage, lending, fine arts, professional services, public faith (Notaries and Public Brokers), and leasing. In 2016, he managed the very first AML verification visit in the state of Jalisco—the 23rd historically in Mexico—conducted by the then newly-formed Central Administration of Vulnerable Activities of the SAT. By 2019, he earned the IMCP’s 32nd professional certification in AML. Since then, his compliance consultancy has spanned multiple industries, reviewing over 5,000 high-risk transactions, filing more than 4,000 reports to the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF), and representing clients in dozens of compliance audits by federal authorities.
In 2020, Rubén achieved his CNBV certification in Anti-Money Laundering on his first attempt. This credential authorizes him to perform annual audits for financial institutions, including SOFOMs, SOFIPOs, SOCAPs, Credit Unions, Currency Exchange Centers, Brokerage Houses, and Fintech firms. Since 2022, he has served as the Compliance Officer for a prominent SOFOM catering to real estate developers, currently transitioning into a full-service commercial bank.
